Microsoft ended Kinect production in October 2017 after unbundling the sensor from the Xbox One.
Kinect was teased as Project Natal in 2009, launched in November 2010, and sold around 35 million units on the premise that gaming's future involved standing up in your living room. Bundling it with every Xbox One went badly enough that Microsoft unbundled it, and production ended in October 2017 with no announcement at all. The news surfaced only because its creator mentioned it in an interview.
