- PepsiCo
PepsiCo retired it in January 2023 and replaced it with Starry, a reformulated lemon-lime soda pitched at Gen Z.
Sierra Mist launched in 1999 as PepsiCo's answer to Sprite and spent 24 years failing to be one. By 2022 it held about 0.1% of an $82 billion US soda market while Sprite held roughly 7%. PepsiCo discontinued it in January 2023 and rolled out Starry, a sharper, more citrus-forward recipe sold under the slogan Starry Hits Different, which remains the company's only lemon-lime soda.
Replaced by Starry.
