The Boy Scouts of America, as an organization name
Also known as BSA
- Cause of death
- Killed by one executive
The organization's leadership announced in May 2024 that it would rename itself Scouting America to signal that its programs are open to every young person, effective February 8, 2025.
Founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America kept the word Boy in its name for 115 years, well past the point where it was enrolling girls. The rename was announced in May 2024 and took effect on February 8, 2025, chosen because it was the organization's 115th anniversary. Chief executive Roger Krone framed it as a change of label rather than of mission. The rebrand drew backlash, and the name went anyway.
Replaced by Scouting America.
