The cartoon that justified a bright green citrus drink had been off the air for a decade.

Ecto Cooler was a promotional tie-in for The Real Ghostbusters, and it outlived the cartoon by roughly eleven years, quietly dropping the branding along the way and selling on taste alone. Coca-Cola finally retired it in 2001. It has returned twice since for limited runs timed to Ghostbusters films, which means the drink has now been resurrected more often than the franchise that created it.
