US Airways
Also known as Allegheny Airlines, All American Aviation
- Cause of death
- Killed by merger
The US Airways brand was retired when its final flight landed in Philadelphia on October 17, 2015, completing the integration into American Airlines.
It began in 1939 as All American Aviation, a Pittsburgh airmail service, and grew through Allegheny Airlines into the carrier that agreed to merge with American in 2013. The brand got a proper wake: Flight 1939, numbered for the founding year, flew a farewell loop out of Philadelphia and came back overnight from San Francisco. It landed Saturday morning after 76 years of service, and every ticket sold afterward said American.
