A camera you could not tell was recording made wearers unwelcome in bars, cinemas and conversations.

Glass failed on etiquette rather than engineering. The hardware worked; the problem was that nobody around the wearer could tell whether they were being filmed, which produced bans, confrontations, and the word Glasshole entering the language within a year. Google ended consumer sales in January 2015 after about twenty-one months and redirected the product into factories and warehouses, where nobody has to consent to being near it.
